Interesting stories I’ve found lately:

Pursuing the Truth in Love is a statement by America editor Mark Malone, S.J. that’s inspiring and prophetic.  Would that more of us would embrace this kind of thinking.

Pope Francis teaches the path of renew is to “touch the wounds of Jesus” in his St. Thomas day homily. In his last June audience, he reminds us that In Christ We Are All Equal, and No One Is Useless.  Here’s the highlights from the first encyclical.

John Allen checks in with the story behind Pope Francis’ actions the past couple of months, not including the new encyclical.

Bishop Daniel Trautman calls on the U.S. Catholic Bishops to pay attention to the majority of priests dissatisfaction with the new Missal prayers.  Since they were promulgated in 2011, the awkward prayers have been a thorn is almost every priests’ side.

Jonathan Merritt sits down to talk to former President Jimmy Carter in two installments: Part 1 and Part 2.

Mary Elberstadt has written a book with a fetching title: How the West Lost God. Michael Sean Winters provides an overview and critique of the book.  Part 1 and Part 2

Bill Tammeus disconnects the issues of gay marriage and religion.  It’s a clarification that’s helpful to all of us.  His post Learning Who’s Not In Control is a charming reflection about a basic part of life which can be learned trying to navigate a small boat.
